  • Well, everything will be ok. Peter Jackson, New Zealand officials and the labor unions have reached an agreement and production on The Hobbit will stay in New Zealand. The NZ government is helping the studio offset some of their costs with tax benefits and production will begin as scheduled.  (Source: The Playlist)
  • We’re returning to the world of Pandora sooner than we thought (not counting the 19 times they’ve put Avatar back in theaters since its release). Fox has announced that James Cameron will be working on Avatar 2 & 3 as his next films. Production will commence late in 2011, with what looks like a back to back shoot, the films planned for release in December of 2014 and 2015. (Source: Coming Soon)
  • Christopher Nolan has announced the title of the third film in his Batman franchise and they’re keeping with a winning formula. The film will be entitled The Dark Knight Rises and will not have the rumored Riddler as its villain. There is still no word on who will be the villain but Tom Hardy (Inception) has joined the cast. Bucking a trend, Nolan also said that the film won’t be shot in or converted to 3D. Personally, I think that’s a good thing as seeing The Dark Knight in IMAX was an awe-inspiring experience by itself. (Source: Hero Complex)
  • In news that saddens me deeply, it appears that JK Simmons won’t be returning to the role of J. Jonah Jameson in the new Spider-Man film, as Marvel is casting for the role. Rumors have both John Slattery (Mad Men, Iron Man 2) and Sam Elliot (Ghost Rider) in the list. However, at this point there is nothing definitive. (Source: What’s Playing)
